I replaced the plugs and wires about a year ago and will be doing it again while I'm at it.. I put 7mm before, but will be putting some 8mm Magnecor's and NGK's. Seems like my truck likes them better than the Bosch platinum's. May try the E3's..

May do the inline thermo mod with a 180f or 190f thermo. 1/8" drilled hole. If I don't like it, I'll revert back..

Are the ARP's the studs with nuts? (probably rhetorical question).

One thing I would recommend prior to disassembly of the top end.. Power wash it and get most of the crud off. Something I didn't do and wish I had.

Are the water pumps prone to failure? I know there is a brass impeller version that is supposedly better. I thought that was more of the 200k service range..

From what I've read so far on the ARP studs, nuts, and washers, there really is no plausible evidence with these trucks that they offer any benefit (at least from what I've read from the experts here). I'll stick with my new aftermarket stretch bolts for now.

I would have to disagree, but to each his own. Supposedly (my CYA preface!!), they put less stress on the block and distribute more even pressure across the heads. This helps prevent cracks and the HGs will last longer. Look at the 4.6L tutorial at www.greatplainsrover.com

Sad.. It actually took me a second to correlate what you where saying...

I did read the stretch bolts verses ARP thread, and from what I read, there is no added benefit. "The guys that seem to know a lot and have true mechanical experience with Land Rovers" (dare I ever say there are any experts on this forum) brought up good plausible evidence as to why the aftermarket stretch bolts would be good for our engines.

My point (without making this an ARP vs stretch bolt thread) is that there are a lot of owners who have put the aftermarket stretch bolts in and not had an issue. I think it was even brought up that initially, the stretch bolts used by Land Rover were found to be deficient causing head gasket failures. They then started using aftermarket bolts which somewhat corrected the problem. Of course everything you read on the internet is true.. right?
