Default Urgent! Seat motor stopped working

03 Disco HSE. My kids were playing with the seat, lean it back all the way, then leaned on it and something broke. It will not go back up. There is no noise coming from the motor and it is not moving. It does still go forward and back just not tilt. Did I throw a fuse, blow out the motor, break loose a connection? I was selling it tomorrow and need to fix this asap. Please help. Thanks!

Disassembled the switch, cleaned and reassembled. Still not working. Where is the fuse for the power seats? any other thoughts? Thanks

Look at fuse 5 in the engine compartment and also the fuses in the satellite fuse box under the drivers seat. You might have burned out the motor though.

Default found fuses- ok

checked 1,5,7,8 in engine box and 15,26 inside fuse box. All ok. And I do get power to move the seat forward and backward, just not tilt. I still think it is the switch or I blew the motor? Thoughts?

Default dbl checked the switch

rechecked the switch. half of it still works, the other half does not. Can I test it with a volt meter (either the switch or the motor)? What are the signs of a blown motor? Is it inside the seat back? Thanks.

swap the switch over from the side that doesnt have problems.....test the switch that way!!!!

then show the buyer of the truck that you have paid/priced a new switch

Default seat switch

Thanks. I'll try that. If it still doesn't work, what are my options? If motor, is that hard to do?

No but to get the seat out will require a torx bit that you will need to buy.

Default fixed!

It was a loose wire in the back of the chair. For all future LRF members- here are the things to troubleshoot all in one place in this order:
1. check fuse 1,5,7,8 in engine, 15,26 in the car
2. check fuses under seat
3. jiggle all wires under the seat while another person actuates the switch
4. rebuild the switch. It just pops out of center console. take it apart very carefully and photo it iff necc so you can re-assy it. clean with a q tip that has most of the cotton removed (otherwise it soaks up all the dielectric grease and you are left with none)
5. replace motor- but a used motor. it seems like they rarely go out.

Hope that helps.

Congrats, yes you rarely hear of someone complaining about their seat motor going bad. Maybe Rover should have just scaled it up and stuck it in the engine bay.
