Some use starting fluid and spray around suspect leak points at idle, listen for change of engine speed.

I used to work for a firm out of Parsippany, can you still walk across the Passaic in the summer?
Figured as much. No codes at all and then my tinkering the last 2 days trips a bunch. Went a touch aggressive with the seafoam yesterday, and then this today lol. Between the seafoam and adjusting the throttle cable (was not actually hitting WOT) she has a bit more pep. Still the whistle though lol.
I'm not far at all from Parsippany. And the Passaic River is clean these days, that is when it is not flooding out everything around it (one hell of a year for that around here). In college I did water studies of the Passaic, and got to wade in a few times. That was 10 years ago, and in the worst areas. Oh man, you did NOT want to be in there!

Cut/broken looking vacuum tube in your picture is the front axle breather tube. When I was pulling my engine shortly after buying mine, I was worried about it also, but soon found that everything in these Rovers are either vented or shielded. Hell, even the fog lights have vent tubes.

X2 on spraying things with either starting fluid or carb cleaner to find a possible vacuum leak. I cannot count the number of customers who have rented the code scanner where I work, found a lean condition, and traced a vacuum leak with a can of carb cleaner.
