Default In vehicle battery charger

Has anyone installed a small battery/float charger on the vehicle? I was thinking of doing this as my vehicle may sit for a few days and I'd like to run the radio, fans, and lights when working on it, while it may not drain the battery much, the peace of mind that I won't kill my new battery (I have a tendency to kill batteries) would be nice (assuming I do it right and don't burn the truck down). I was also thinking of adding a shore power plug somewhere on the vehicle, and adding a fake plug in hybrid badge next to the V8 badge.

I keep a battery tender on my motorcycle. I’m not sure if you should try to run systems with it on though (might overtax it?)

I have a battery tender/charger lead hooked up to my starter battery. When I'm working on it for extended periods, I can plug in my charger to keep it topped off. I have the same style lead setup on my second car which only gets driven on weekends so I can use one charger for all my vehicles.

I have the solar battery charger from Harbor Freight on mine, works for exactly what you are looking for. I leave it in the windshield on the passenger side.

I do that when I park/work on it for more than 3-4 days

I just wired the socket in the cargo area directly to the battery and bought a solar panel to trickle charge it.

I wired a pigtail connection to my battery and then use either a solar charger or plug-in charger to keep the battery happy. At peak Covid my D2 sat for weeks at a time, a solar charger was great. I also keep a dashcam running all of the time with a low voltage cut-off switch. So I like to keep the battery above that cut-off voltage for the camera to keep running.

Now I think about it, at peak Covid all of our cars were on battery chargers.
