Very sick looking coolant !

Well after an overheating issue we tracked it down to a clogged rad.
While pulling the rad out I decided to dump the rest of the coolant out through the outlet side and just had coolant comeout, then decided to dump the rad out the inlet side and to my surprise this is what came out,

This could really be an issue for coolant flow through the rad so instead of flushing this crap out we decided to go new and replaced the t-stat with a 180* one as well as flushing out the engine.
We are hoping to be back up and running this weekend, fingers crossed.
Oh we also noticed the throttle body heater may have been leaking so may do a bypas, any thoughts on this.

What about replacing the rad? Flushing the skinny D2 rad is usually not worthwhile. You can eval rad by letting vehicle warm up, and check temp top to bottom on fins. If cooler by 10F on lower rows, sludge is on the inside. Note chips in pix, they'll go all the way across.

New rad and t-stat already put in, the coolant temps in the old rad ranged from extremely hot at the top to ice cold at the bottom=dead rad.

Sounds like you got to the bottom of this one. For future forum readers can you post (if available) before and after engine operating temps?
