vibration in driveshaft
Hi All, I recently had a new front drive shaft put into my `03 Disco 2 Td5 2 days later as I reached 60kph(no it didn't take me that long to reach that speed) I noticed a dull shuddering vibration under my feet and rattling the whole vehicle. Below 60 it disappears,I spoke with my mechanic and he seems dumb founded. What do you suggest??

The first thing that I would do would be to stop driving the vehicle. Secondly I would visually inspect the drive shaft and look for any abnormalities and look for the welded on weight(s) that are supposed to keep your drive shaft balanced. It is quite possible that a weight fell off. Did you have this problem before replacing the drive shaft, if you did than maybe it was something else to begin with.

review Propshaft Rebuild - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum with mechanic, and attached pages. Unit may not have been assembled or installed in correct orientation. DO NOT DRIVE except at vert slow speed, shaft could come apart and knock hole in transmission. Suggest mechanic fund tow truck, cheaper than transmission....
Note: attachment is from the RAVE, you can down load the whole one for free, even carry it around on a USB drive, give mechanic a copy, etc. Your own copy will be higher resolution.
Also, box of chocolate covered donuts will go a long way at the shop, it is the best business bribe, they eat all the evidence...
