Vibration/Pulling
Driving last night and thinking to myself how smooth the Discovery was riding. Go into the bar. Have two. Come out, get in, start it up, back out of my space, shift to drive and had to brake to let someone out of a space and noticed a pulsating type of pulling against the breaking I was doing. As I accelerated, that pulsating was actually a vibrating that I could feel through the seat. The power didn’t seem to be there like it usually is, either.
It has been burning oil lately. Doesn’t seem to idle quite evenly.
Im all ears ladies and gents... this ring a bell to any of you? It’s a 2003 Discovery II.

Do you have an ob2 code reader?
If not, any auto parts store should be able to get some codes, even without having the Land Rover software.
They can give you a code number you can reference here, or google.
That's free and easy, and likely the best place to start.
You could have the battery and alternator tested too.
Low voltage can cause all kinds of problems.
If you have a misfire, it can have several causes.
If it's burning oil, you could even have a fouled spark plug.
I'm not saying these are definately your problems either, but start simple on your process of elimination.
Where are you located?
Myself or another member may be close to you, and could check for codes for you.

Your description sounds like a bad valve(s)/valve guide(s) to me. The burning oil is what makes me thinkest so. Have the head gaskets ever been replaced, heads inspected? I would pull and check all the plugs for oil fouling as part of your troubleshooting, along with what the others have suggested.
