I bought a Disco II Monday. Good buy, clean, 107K miles. All seems well for the most part. I do get a vibration from what seems to be somewhere in the middle underneath when I get up to 70mph. Any reason why? Thanks in advance. Granted I am gonna take it to get looked at when my work schedule allows.

 

Your front drive shaft is ready to fall out and make a hole in your transmission.

Get it replaced ASAP. The originals can't be greased and fail frequently. Crawl under there and verify that it is getting sloppy first, obviously.

And, seriously....they like to put a hole in the transmission when they go. I'd suggest pulling the shaft where it sits and bringing it somewhere to get rebuilt or buy a new one.

 

x2 front drive shaft u joints bad, take care of it immediately, don't mess around.

On my 01 I had the same type of vibration that you could feel through the seats. The rubber roto flex was the cause on mine. The rear drive shaft has a rubber piece that connects it to the rear axle. If it has never been replaced that is where I would start. Usually if you have a front drive shaft that is having issues you will feel the vibration in the steering wheel as well. It is a good idea to go ahead and re-build your front drive shaft if it has not been done.
