Default Vibration under load

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2000 Disco II with 120,000 miles. I replaced the u-joints about a year ago before reading this forum and did not put the greasable u-joints in it. This past week I started getting a weird vibration with heavy acceleration from a stop. If i accelerate heavily at seventy everything is smooth, however at sixty it shakes; I think this just has to do with how much force there is on the driveline and transmission. Do you think I really need to have the front driveshaft rebuilt again with the new u-joints after one year or could it be something else?

Thanks for all of your help

DO NOT wait on this.
YES the new u-joints could have failed after only a year, essecially if they were cheap ones.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I'll be on it by Friday. Should I go ahead and re-do the rear too? I didn't maintanence it when I did the front.

Also, while I'm at it I haven't serviced the tranny since I've owned my disco and I bought it with 100,000 miles, should I look at having it serviced? I live in a fraternity house so I'm kind of lacking any major tools beyond a basic socket set and wrenches. Even my pump to change the fluids is at home and I would like to change out the differential fluid as well. So if anyone knows of a good machine shop to have my driveshaft rebuilt and another shop to have the diff and tranny serviced in Atlanta the help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Again

I have a new symptom, when I posted before I had not revved the engine in neutral. Well, I also have the vibration starting at about 2500-3500 RPM in neutral and I am not throwing any codes. This means it must be an engine problem right? I changed plugs and wires about 10,000 miles ago and I always run Premium gas. I'm kind of stumped on this one. Is there a possibiltiy of having too much build-up in my catalylitic converter?

Mike, can you report back here what you went through with him? I had the vibration under heavy load with5 people over 160 pounds and 150-200 pounds of luggage. I have a brand new grease able shaft though.

I just replaced springs and shocks and I suspect the vibe has gone away, as a my vibration at 70-75 is gone now.
