Ever thought about an electric fan upgrade? With your busy schedule you should buy a Honda or Toyota. I work a +13 hour shift so I don't have time for personal projects onmy work days. I finally decided to buy my Disco knowing that I'd have an Acura that was relatively manitenance free so the Disco could sit and wait if it needed to! I work on semiconductor manufacturing equipment, they need good component level trouble shooters...

I have thought about it, but the cost keeps me from it. I have time at night to work on my truck: not sleeping much these days. I bought a boat and have re-done all of it. I am just finishing up, so cashflow should be better, but not yet.

My dad bought into an oilfield supply company and I am helping to get them together. Built a web site, got them E-mail, getting a plan together for ordering parts and record tracking.... I have the shop with everything I could ever want to work on the truck, just hard to buy the parts. They even have an overhead crane in the shop that I used to pull and then install the new engine in my boat..

Have you tried ordering from motorcarsltd? They are less than a mile from my house. I've bought a few parts from their place near me. But the guys in there tell me to order from their website, it's a lot cheaper? Anyway their main base is in Houston and apparently they have a side company called "Blackdog" that recon's parts? Not sure how good they are but I've heard their owner is quite picky about quality?

Must be nice having a full shop to work in! (Jealous!)

I checked their prices, and they are about $100 more than ATB. I want to go with new parts. I plan on keeping this for a long time, and the cooling system is not somewhere I want to skimp.

It is good to see you out there stimulating the economy.
Ok, if that was sarcasm, I just got it. So you know, I am not out buying needless parts. I did have my radiator flow checked and they said you could eat off the inside. No restriction at all. Fan clutch gets here friday and the water pump is now whining at me every time I shut down. Good thing I have another car to drive now.

I have found that the clutch for a 98 Durango will bolt right up and so will the disco fan. The disco fan is too light for the durango clutch so will have to put on a mopar fan. All dodge pickups and suvs used the same fan. Land Rover wants almost $400 and the parts place will sell me the durango one for $80-90.

I went with atlantic british for mine, but Autozone sells one for $100. It is made for the rover and you don't have to change the fan. Be careful adding more load to it, you might burn up you water pump shaft.
