Warning Lights
Hi Guys, I have a 2000 Disco II. The Green (M)and (S) lights on the dash and the (D) on the center console went onand started flashing yesterday when my wife was driving and the truck started jerking, like it was slipping in and out of gear. If she turned off and restarted the truck it would reset and be fine for a little while then it would do it all over again. Cananyone give me some advice on this? Thanks Joe C.
You and your wife both need to read your owners manual one night.
Don't drive it again untill you can make an appointment to get it into a tranny shop or you may do additional damage.

I did get it into the only shop in Rockford, that will work on Land Rovers. According to them it in not the tranny, itis the cam shaft sensor and causing the timing to be off.So the truck was essentially shutting on and off.Have anyof guys heard of this? Thanks Joe
I would ask for all the specific codes they found when checking the engine by fault code number. No I have never heard of a crank sensor causing the mode lights to flash.
I had the same problem when I first got my Disco. I was driving and the S and M lights started flashing so I pulled over. I had just gotten a soda and some snacks at the gas station and had placed then between the seats over the mode button. Thinking that I must have hit the button with my "snacks"I shut off the disco and restarted. Lights not flashing and no problem tell 3 days later, this is when my crank sensor failed. Could not get it to start, if I did it would die on me as well. Maybe they are on to something! Who knows, but it is weird that I had a brief flash of the lights as you dothen a crank sensor fails. Just my $.02
