Many do a pod up the side of the A pillar. Voltmeter also is popular. So is the Ultra Gauge, which is a live data code reader, has other features, won't do oil PSI. UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center About $70, plug in.
Somewhere I saw a pix of an oil gauge mounted under the hood, just for diagnostics. Guess if you check it with weekly underhood fluids and belt review it wouldn't hurt. Of course I can't say that you'll have too much warning on a rapidly failing oil pump. Perhaps others will comment.

I'm jut running a Sunpro Oil PSI from advanced auto and an Ultra Gauge. Voltmeter wouldn't hurt, but if I go that route I'll need to find a cleaner set-up for the cab, I have Oil on left of binnacle and ultra on right. That guy building the RRC made a sweet carbon fiber binnacle for right above the radio

I had the tinted glowshift gauges in my last car and over 6 years of use I never had an issue with them. I still have the oil pressure and vacuum gauges and plan to pick up an inline water temp or maybe something else (I have an ultra gauge) I just need to get the time to mold in a gauge pod so it looks clean

I also use Glowshift Oil psi and Coolant temp gauges and have been very happy with them for years. I mounted the gauges on plastic right in front of the CDL shift lever, just above the Sticker for CDL operation.
If you do need to use the CDL you'd need to remove the screw on plastic handle and shift the CDL using the metal lever. I don't use the CDL much so its never a problem.
I used the pods that the gauges came with and double sided tape to adhere them to the dash plastic so I didn't need to drill up anything.
This way you don't have them in your face all the time like on the pillar mount. If something is going withe either system, one of the the gauge alarms will notify me so no need to look at them all the time.
