At the time I remember posting this info and recommended to everyone if you want the bronze impeller to stock up if you can find them.
Still today you will see vendors use the old pic, but get eyes on before you place an order. There are still some NOS, but that's it.

ONE Water Pump I will WARN people about is a GMB. This thing looks great, but is a complete TURD!!!
what was so great about the bronze?

I don't know for sure, but it was more expensive than the Airtex with the steel impeller and I think that implied to some people that it was higher quality. For all I know the bearings, seals, etc. were the same. I brought it up originally in this thread only to refute the OP's original statement that the one with the steel impeller was preferred over brass or bronze or whatever it is.

Some of those Amazon water pumps look like they might have small shaft and bearing judging by the size of shaft seen in the hub... My failed original pump and the Spanish made replacement I bought at Autozone both had a large shaft seen in the hub.Steel impeller of original pump had no corrosion at all and brass can sometimes get caustic embrittelment cracks and break apart ...The Spanish AZ pump cost me ~$220-i know that is on the expensive side now ...
