Default Water in rear lights

So, I noticed that both my rear lights had enough water in them to keep a decent sized goldfish alive.

I'd popped the right hand side out to wire in the trailer wiring and saw it sloshing around. As naturally as anything I drilled a smallish hole in the back of the plastic cluster to drain it.

Tell me I didn't do the wrong thing.

Couldn't at all see how it was getting in there, it looks like a pretty decent sealed unit.

Unless the PO had a fish in each side, and I've now killed them!

I did the same thing. Except I drilled two tiny holes at the bottom, on the face of the light assembly so the water drains outside. It's been that way for two years now.

I say go with the goldfish, it can be your mascot. That way you don't have to mount a flag on your car...

I don't know a Darwin Flag could be pretty appropriate with these.

^True! But then you would have to figure out how to mount the flag...

I used a tiny drill bit to drill holes at an upward angle on the outer lower edge of each rear light and have no more problems. Also drilled holes in one of my front headlights when it took on water.

Easy fix that the LR dealer would charge you hundreds for to install new lights that will just leak later.

Now you guys can stick flowers in the holes and you have a functional flower vase, kind of the like the 50's era Volkswagens and the new ones!

Just leave the water in there and get some shoes to match.
