Default Weekend recap- Check BOTH sides of the water hole

On a very muddy day we made a visit to Kansas Rocks. Had a scary moment when dropping into a water filled hole. I checked the passenger side rut and did not check the drivers side. Then this happened. Lucky it climbed out of the deep spot. Almost made it all the way out of the hole but could not quite get over the hump as it was too muddy everywhere. Slight tug from my friends 4runner and it was out. It never stalled or leaked into the interior even when the drivers side was submerged halfway up the door for moment.

That could have ended up worse. Good you made it out unscathed.

Yeah, that's an error you only make once! A few months back I was at a local state forest/4x4 trail and it had been raining heavily. I went right through the center what I thought was a puddle and it ended up being more of a small lake- water was coming up over the hood and everything. The D2 powered right through and I was amazed that I escaped unscathed, my heart was racing and I'm pretty sure I had to change my underpants. Never again going through an unchecked water hazard.

Ouch! That was a close call. Great that you were able to get out of the situation quickly, especially seeing your intake was buried at water level in the first pic.

Some context. My 11 year old son was driving. He did nothing wrong as I was the spotter and gave him the ok to proceed and an adult friend was in the truck with him. It was a close call with the air-box in the front corner. I was freaked out for split second until it pulled up and out of the deep spot. I noticed there are two distorted interior photos that appear when you click on the ones I attached. They show mud and water damage to the inside drivers kick panel. That is not my truck. I do not know why they are there. The door seals all did a great job keeping water and mud out of the interior. Even the lower tailgate which sat submerged for a decent amount of time.

Good on you for letting your 11 year old drive it, especially through that gnarly hole. I don’t care how valuable your vehicle is, your kids are worth more.
