Default Weird sound coming to a stop

Hey hey! Wanted to run this by you guys to see if you've experienced something similar:

On the 2002, when coming to a stop, not all the time, but most of the time lately, there's a rumbling noise that's audible when the stereo is off. Not super loud. It's the same sound that you here when a lifted pickup drives by with mudding tires. That low drone. It sounded like its coming from the back, but hard to know for sure. I popped the back wheels off yesterday to do a quick visual and everything looks good. Pads are great, rotors are great. Ideas? I guess I could start to consider the hub?

Maybe its time to put that mega torque wrench to use and replace the hubs again!

I thought by buying it that might mean I’d never use it 😅

I would have thought that bad hub bearings would be noisy at speed especially when cornering, not at a near standstill.

Exactly, just replaced my right front due to that exact reason. Interestingly it made more noise turning right then turning left not what I expected. I would make another pass around and look at all of the pads even the interior ones, usually a low growl when stopping is indicative no pad material left and metal of metal on the rotor

My opinion will surprise many.
Something in the computer or climate computer senses the vehicle speed decreasing to about 4MPH and a servo closes (or opens) a ventilation flow gate by the passenger feet area. It also sounds the same in reverse (restoring) the ventilation gate position when accelerating from a stop up to 4MPH if the engine is quiet enough.
Exposed the behavior previously on some post but seems nobody hears it. I suspect the climate system exterior air intake (or recirculation) changes when moving and when stopped by some esoteric minuscule design reason.
Some day I will try to come to a stop quietly with engine (key) off to compare if the noise persists, or start downhill with engine off to confirm the same noise reversal.

Brandon : try a small kid as helper, head stuck under the glove box and paying attention to the noise source area while reaching a stop. And come back with findings !
