Default Weird thing happening with 00 D2 / Keyless doesn't work after sitting at airport

Took my D2 to the airport and left it parked for 2 weeks in the parking garage while I was on a trip. Everything working normally when I left, locked the D2 with the key fob. Went away on my business.

When I returned, the key fob-- would not do anything and would not unlock the doors (red light blinks on key when pressing lock or unlock). I thought... crap... dead battery. But I had just last month gotten a new battery on the D2. And the key fob battery is good / new .. the little red light on the key illuminates when pressing buttons.

I unlocked door with my key in the door handle, interior lights came on (yay no dead battery!) , then I pressed the unlock button on the key fob when the door was open, the alarm fast blinking light turned off. I got in and drove away without issue and then in testing it the next morning, the key fob works perfectly thereafter. Lock, unlock, etc.

It's as if the Disco lost the connection to the key, or the BCU went into some super deep sleep mode. In all my years of D2 ownership this has never happened, and since it's a 5th (oops) car, it often sits for a month at a time in the garage without me touching it. Anyone have any ideas?

Could be caused by interference on the 433mhz frequency, i experienced the same with my p38 a decade ago. But i don’t know if the D2 also uses the 433Mhz frequency for the central locking to be honest 😊

Like Disco 2 says, my P38 also does that from time to time. I then just resync the fob and everything works again.

This was most likely caused by interference as already noted (NAS models use 315MHz btw). I have the same problem on my driveway, sometimes I have to hold the fob as close as possible to the receiver (rear passenger windows). There are a lot of devices operating on 315Mhz like garage door openers, TPMS or alarm systems. It is dominant when several service trucks are parked in front of my house. I get decent range only when I am in the wilderness.

Interesting, I would guess at an airport there's loads of interference .. ? Thank you all
