Default Welding on Discovery 2 Frame

Does anyone know if the vehicle ECU needs to be removed before welding on the frame. I am planning on having the Door frame A-pillar post welded back on as its popping every time I open the door.

If you don't have to remove the ECU then is disconnecting the battery sufficient.

I built my entire steel bumper and attached the grounding clamp daily. It will be fine. 10 weeks on and off of welding and no issues. Current flows to the grounding strap...shortest path to ground. Look at muffler shops they are welding all the time on cars and do not dissconnect the battery or ECU.

If you feel uncomfortable about it, disconnect the earth lead (ground lead) from the battery.

I have a quick disconnect on my batteries....never bothered with the simple turn of the **** for welding........and I have all kinds of junk welded on there.

more important is that if you are putting trick tabs or something that will see a lot of pressure and demand.......plate it on that section. the frame is thin

yes, ALWAYS PLATE THE FRAME!

a dude I know had his rear panhard mount pull a hole out of his chassis, rust free, under some serious force.
