Default Well, I found the gaping hole in my transmission, and the culprit who created it...

It's colder than and windy as hell outside, but I wanted to see if I could find the hole in the transmission. I didn't think I had until I loaded the pictures onto my computer. Then, holy hell, there it was. Ain't no patching that baby, she's gonna need to come out.

Here's the culprit (a little fuzzy)

Does that look like pretty standard damage after a u-joint failure?

A couple of engine pics (looks clean for $1700 bucks)

I also took some video, and I'm going to post it on youtube. If you like, listen to her, and tell me how she runs. I think she runs pretty damn good. I mean, it's pretty easy to tell when an engine is running like crap, and this just isn't it. Having not owned a Land Rover, or been close enough to a nice one to hear it run, I might be mistaken.

Thats a very worn driveshaft, and the "normal" looking result of a failiure

Those aint no OEM plug wires, you just may have gotten one hell of a deal my friend.
Looks to me like this was a well cared for truck with the exception of the front prop shaft.
The guy probally just didnt know, it broke, he found out how much it was to fix so she sat in his driveway until his wife put her foot down an so he had to sell it.
Does that sound about right?
Did the guy give you any history on the truck?

They are some type of NGK plugs, although I'm not sure what number. The wires say "STI Spark Transfer International" and I think the Oil was a synthetic blend. I have some receipts of some of the work he had done. He had the three Amigos before, and it was deemed to be the left rear hub. He bought it used, and had finally paid it off the week before I bought it. I found the original window sticker...$39,300.

Just from the paperwork I have:

3/2007 he took it in with the three Amigos, and it was determined to be the left rear hub, which was replaced.
3/2008, he took it in with a leaking power steering pump. They scanned the computer, and determined it needed a coil pack and maybe wires...Looks like the #5 cylinder was misfiring.
9/2008 he had a no start, and the garage determined it to be the cam sensor and the crank sensor, both replaced.
10/2008 he had the Plugs and Wires replaced, and had them test the fuel injection.

It was a week after the plugs and wires that the u-joint broke.

Oh, and my hands were numb from the cold. After I ran it, I reached underneath to try and get a few more shots, and touched the exhaust pipe. It took me a little longer to realize than it might have since my hands were numb, and it got my attention in a hurry. Ouch.
