What is ALWAYS in your rover?
Just my tooth brush!!! Only kidding;
What is in the D2 depends on the itinerary and it is a combination of what was listed in the other posts.
What remains in it all the time is the NAV system, cellphone charger, small tool kit, jumper cables, high intensity flash light, tire inflator, 1/2 inch break bar / extension and socket (for the lug nuts).
The factory tire iron in a D2 can bend easier than a tooth brush.

[quote=Rover Chris;102887]Cordless Dremel (Those who have been stranded in their Disco without one will know exactly what it's for!)
ok you have sparked my curiosity whats the dremel for?

Trust me, you don't want to find out the hard way that your lug nut covers have been rendered useless by someone using either and impact wrench, or slightly wrong sized socket on em. Once those covers get buggered - the only way to get your wheels off is to dremel off those dang metal covers. (Oh and it should be noted, when any of you have a bit of free time - go try to find a 28mm socket. It's the damn holy grail ! You'll drive all over town hitting up every parts store you know of and I can guarantee that most of ya will start to yell bloody conspiracy when you find that socket sizes go from 27mm to 30mm with overwhelming consistency at every parts shop you encounter. Rover lugs are 27.62mm ffs!) After a fight with the girlfiend, she wanted to do something for me to help make up. I was still a little bothered - so I simply asked if she wouldn't mind stopping by the parts store on the way home and picking me up a 28mm socket. 3 hours later, she arrived totally flustered since she "REALLY" wanted to do something nice for me! It put a huge smile on my face to console her! lol. Don't think I'll ever let her in on the 28mm saga though...

my god I had that happen on my old cherokee (yes I had a jeep) it was an 87 with 250k when I got rid of her. but a few weeks before I sold her she got a flat, and the lug nuts had those stupid metal covers on them (good thing I had a universal lug wrench with different sizes on it!!! I was lucky enough to pop the cover off with a screwdriver and get one of the other sizes on the lug wrench to fit but it did turn a standard flat swap into a 3-4 hour job!!! that is by far the stupidest design I have ever seen. by the way those were do to rust (and probably age)
And so that you are not stuck on the side of the road with a tire that you cant chaneg take a Saturday and go around to ever lug nut with your socket, a hammer, channel locks and pen/lube.
Hammer your socket on each and every lug nut and then remove it, keep doing this until it will fit all lugs easily.
You do NOT want to be doing this on the side of the expressway in the rain.
It took me three hours to do this after I bought my truck.
Now everytime somebody other than me works on it I take my socket to each and every lug to make sure it fits before I leave the parking lot.
