What brand of brake rotors and pads are recommended?

Are you asking if the truck sits for days? Mostly morning school and sitter dropoffs (2-3 mile drive) and again afternoon school and sitter pickups (2-3 miles.) During the major part of the day, it sits.
Then, of course, out and about on weekends (it gets, on average, only about 800-900 miles per month.)

F+R Drilled Rotors for Land Rover Discovery Series II | eBay
I just put these rotors on a couple weekends ago. They are nice quality, fit perfect, and are a very decent price. I also put the akebono pads on with these. About $300 for everything. My stopping is nice and smooth and no squeals. These rotors are zinc coated as well so they shouldn't rust out too quickly. Overall I was very pleased with these.

You missed that part of my post. I got them from Atlantic British (not the OEM ones, just the "standard" or "generic" ones):
Land Rover Discovery II Brake Rebuild Kits: Land Rover Brake Kits Online
'Might as well let these run their course and then go zinc-coated on the rotors and Akebono on the pads. Stopping is smooth and no squeaks, but if they continue down this path, I don't see them lasting very long.

You can' t just mix and match brake pads and rotors.
OK, well you can try.
Most of the combinations you try will have brake pad squeal under certain temps and pressures.
You need to stick close to OEM pad compositions.
None of this ceramic aftermarket stuff. Makes less dust true.
But, squeals like a pig mostly when stopping.
Will **** off your wife - for sure.

I would be concerned because at some point this rust issue will set off your 3 Amigos and cost you money. Are they squeaking at all, if so I would talk th A.B. and let them know of your issue so if this happens they will warranty/sell you a different set made to a higher standards.
