i was wondering if you guys have any insight on why my 2003 disco 2 will not crank. 3 days ago i parked it in my drive and went to start it today and i got a baby crank and then nothing so before i left to go out i put a charge on the battery. when i got back i tried it again and just 1 click inside the cab is all i hear. here is what i tried so far. i tapped on the alternator with my hammer and i know its not the starter and i didnt smack it just a tap and i got a couple more baby cranks then nothing. i checked fuse f23 10amp and that is good. i tried shifting back into park and nothing i tried shifting into neutral and nothing. i tried locking and unlocking with the key fob and nothing. i pulled the sm relay and swapped it and nothing so i put the old back in. the only other thing that i can think of is that my starter failed so i was wanting some insight before i dish out the cash for a new one

how old is the battery? It could be that it is not holding the charge.

Use a wire brush on the terminals and make sure they are clean and have good connection.

I think used devcon plastic welder. ITW Devcon | Plastic Welder

It has been holding up since I did it approx 6+ months ago.

I'd swap with a known good battery, just to rule that out. I had a battery in my Jaguar that would charge and appeared to work. Voltages read fine, but it would not consistently work due to low amperage. Replaced it and all was good again. It had an internal break.

Thanks! If this second round of 3M tape doesn't work, then I'll go with something like this. Appreciate the advise.

I let the urge for a roof rack get the best of me. I am working on getting the lights shortly.
