I did my usual and found a treasure on CL. All my friends knock CL as oh it's junk, or you'll get robbed... Their loss is my gain I guess. I've had nothing but excellent luck with CL.

Yesterday I was browsing CL looking for some 2014-2016 JK/JKU 255/70R18 take off's for my 99 D2. I came across the typical 1000.00-1200.00 sets, then they started dropping but the tires were bald. Then at the very bottom of the page (nearly a 2 week old post) was a set of 5 2014 JKU Rims/Tires with 15k on them if that, and another set of 4 275/70R18 Goodyear Duratrac with 75% of their tread left for 200.00.................

I was like NO WAY, had the guys # on the ad so I text him and he still had them! Then it gets even better. He was moving from College Station to FL this weekend, but he needed to drive to Conroe, TX to pickup his kids from his inlaws. So not only did I get the deal of the century on tires, but I also only had to drive halfway to get them!! He was extremely nice and I just paid his wife via paypal, I loaded them up into my Kalahari (7 Tires inside & 2 up on the roof rack) and off I went.

Now I've just got to take my 99 D2 to my friends work and we can mount/balance them for nothing.

I found out he started the ad at 600.00 which is still a deal, but no one replied so he couldn't take them with him to FL so he dropped it to 200.00 and apparently I was the first to see it.

I upgraded my GROM due to the new apple lightning connector, the old unit just was not working. I got bluetooth this time, and I am really impressed.

I relocated to behind the Heater/A/C controls, fits perfectly and was able to get the microphone and usb cords exactly where I wanted them. Very happy!

Default Best tire deal I scored on Craigslist!

Craigslist rocks! I recently scored 5 Bridgestone Dueler At Revo 2's 245/75/16 with 5 jeep black steel jeep rims for $300. Sold the rims for $125 so I made out in total for $175. 4 tires only had about 3,000 miles on them, and the spare 0 miles. Gotta love them Jeep guys!

Happy to hear it's worked well for you. With my Disco I picked up a cheapy knock off on eBay. It only allowed for an RCA input. I coupled that with a $40 bluetooth module from eBay, and it worked really well.

I put a Grom unit in our Volvo and have been disappointed by static with the bluetooth module. But I'll give Grom a try again with the next Rover.

So, last week I was out of town for a few days, and while driving home from the airport I started hearing a noise like cards in bicycle spokes from under the center console. I initially thought maybe something was in the AC blower, but soon realized the noise varies with vehicle speed. I immediate pulled over and climbed under the hot truck to jerk on the front prop shaft, but it seemed normal. Drove the rest of the way home at 15 mph waiting for the front shaft to break, though I wan't 100% sure that was the cause. I've been driving my alternate vehicle since.

Finally got around to yanking the front shaft today, and while the centering ball does feel maybe a bit wonky, it seems ok. And since I rebuilt this shaft maybe 20k miles ago, I didn't know what to think. So I replaced it with another shaft I have and, so far, the noise is gone. It's been about 10k miles / ~1 year since I lubed it, so I'm wondering if all the Mobil 1 lube just evaporated. Today, I bought the Lucas X-Tra Heavy Duty grease which I'll use in a couple of months when I change my oil.

Crisis averted!

Accidentally got my tires balanced and solved another problem at the same time...

Went to Costco for some new Michelins and turns out they would not down sell me to 245/75/R16. The best they could do was an LT 255/70/R16, as I don't want to go as big as 265's.

So just as they were installing them the tech read the sticker in the door and found the load rating of the Michelin LT255/70R16 they quoted me only has the S1 rating, not the E1 rating, so they would not sell those to me either. Michelin do make a E1 rated tire in both LT245/75/16 and 265/75 but they wouldn't sell me what I wanted.

What they did do was re-balance my existing not worn out tires that have 90k miles on them... And what I thought was worn out front shocks or wonky springs all disappeared leaving me with a silky smooth ride!!!

Turns out balance matters!!!

Now I am REALLY liking the new Bilsteins on the rear and will upgrade the fronts when I get around to it since the wonk e tonk is gone for now... And I will find someone else to sell me 245/75's!

When I sold tires at Sam's Club 20 years ago, we started playing the same games of not "under-equipping" a vehicle even when the prescribed tire was obviously ridiculous. I remember some station wagon that had a trim package with low profile tires, and as a result my idiot boss insisted we could only sell them Z rated tires.

I got my Definity Dakota A/T P245/75R16 at Pep Boys and for the last 3 years they've been great. I haven't even rotated or balanced them and probly have 20k miles on them. I also got a pretty good deal with their buy 3 get 1 free schtick. The last three sets of tires I've bought have been from Pep Boys, and I have no complaints so far.
