Thumbs up First Upgrade

The write-ups convinced me to buy a Tom Wood's front shaft. I want to get off road and even though I could rebuild the original, the Woody is heavier duty and every joint can be lubed, even the CV. Thanks, Tom!

The first weekend I had my new Rover I pulled the little splash pan (fiberglass affair). Got a lesson in diving in as I couldn't figure out how to remove it without first removing the steering damper and then jacking up the body to get room to slip it out through the front. It was dripping oil because the dealer/seller changed the oil and dumped a bunch of the oil out of the filter onto the pan. Residual road dust in the pan made a good wick and slow leak. Not any more!

Also, cleaned up bottom of engine and drivetrain and set off a bank 1 O2 sensor code. Dried out and went away...guess I'll be water proofing that before I go wading.

ScreamingLife, your friend has a good one to look at and a tough decision to make! Hope he gets it.

I installed a used brake booster on my new to me DII, had it a week as of yesterday. In the process, I accidentally lifted the oil dipstick up a little and blew a little oil over the driver's side exhaust manifold. The wife was most impressed.
Yesterday, I scored a CDL t-case for $100 and maybe even an entire parts truck(same color even) for a decent price. Still waiting to hear back on that one. If I don't buy the whole truck, I'll definintely grab some parts.
This is my first post here. From what I've been reading this week, this is the place to be for Land Rover info. Thanks

Ian

Put some Lucas in my power steering to stop the squeak! It worked too.

Hauled 20 sg ft of top soil back to the house to build some raised planter beds. Somehow got a P0327 code on the way to work (knock sensor) that after clearing, didn't come back.

Over the weekend I changed the oil, replaced a worn out tie rod end, and installed my ultragauge. This weekend I will be installing a 180 T-Stat and Front Driveshaft from BP Utah.

Went over to a fellow D2's house to meet up with one other D2 owner and replace parts from an 04' D2 going back to the bank with a bad motor.

- replaced broken exterior finisher behind passenger door (tab cracked)
- added heated seats switch/face plate
- replaced broken rear cigarete tray
- replaced (1) lug
- replaced rear tailgate actuator
- added interior panel fastners (gray)
- removed A-pillars but the fins cracked that mount to the clips- plan in the works to add fins and try to make it work
- windshield cowl broke upon removal

Parts I could not claim
- rear bumper as mine is cracked unfortunately I want a steel one
- Safari Guard Rack (other D2 owner claimed)
- CDL (claimed already)
- Rovertym sliders (did not want very rusty D2 from up North) too much to recondition for my sake
