Did an el cheapo rear driveshaft conversion using spare parts, did another el cheapo roof rack from 2 dog guard cages, also added a 4 pin trailer connection to the genuine 7 post connector.

I got a "Service Engine Soon" light halfway to work this morning. I just pulled the codes, and the relevant one is P0455, "Evaporative emission system leak detected (large)." Time to look that up....

However, in the warmth of the afternoon after driving home from work, it wasn't happening live on the warmed up Disco, so maybe it's a sticky valve?

Most common cause for P0455... loose gas cap. Sure enough, it wasn't tight. I'll see tomorrow if that fixes it, or if I have to go look for a loose hose, cracked pipe, etc.

Changed plugs and wires... so fun.

My platform to get back to the coils.

Default Saved my transmission

Heard a squeak that was going faster as I accelerated and would stop if I let go of the accelerator.
I could not reproduce while idling with the hood open.
I kept driving...
It got worse and worse over the past 2 weeks.
I got curious.
I crawled under the car. Happy I did....

Today I pulled the front drive shaft out. Will take it to a shop to get reworked. (The local Land Rover mechanic quoted me $800 for a new shaft + labor. LA labor rate that is... $120/hr? Don't think so...!)

Front driveshaft. Joint is completely shot...

Went to the Assateague Island OSV. About a 175 mile trip each way.

Picked up a Sprinta Sport in Vancouver on the cheap. The towing went very well for a 2,500 lb boat plus whatever for the trailer.

You can pick up a new shaft from Lucky 8 for under $200 shipped. I was price shopping just yesterday.
