If I had the engine out, I'd do coil packs, wires, and plugs. Probably replace all the accessories (or at least test) while the motor is out just for ease of access and also so that everything is fresh. Might be also a good time to clean the engine bay if you're not already doing that so that spotting leaks later down the line is easier.
Also install the Extint inline thermostat if you don't have that already. Depending on the condition of your cooling system, maybe replace the rad and stuff too so that everything is fresh for the new block.
Wow, good on you keeping one on the road. Depending on how many miles are on them replace all the cooling system components, the starter, and the idler pulley bearings.
In probably a stupid financial move, I ordered a Turner short block and it came in last week. New motor mounts are going in, but any suggestions on work that should be done while the engine is out?
It took longer than expected to put it together, but the vehicle is up and running again with a bunch of new parts. I will post updates here from time to time on how the new Turner short block is holding up. Thanks for everyone's help with this.
