I hate to come out and ask, but I am a BMW guy who wants to get a discovery. I don't know the common failures and things to look for.(Transmissions, ball joints, struts, etc..)Here is a link to the one I am looking at. He will let it go for $8000. It traded in a '97 Disco with 97k in May '05, full service records, new Michelins, and got $7,200 at trade. If those are the Michelin 4X4 XPC tires on yours, thats $1000 right there. NADA puts average trade-in at $7820 and average retail at $10,100. Other than the standard used car checks you can pay for, Disco problems seem to be pretty spontaneous. If the service records are in order and it isn't leaking anything, sounds pretty good. Good luck.

 

He told me they were new Michelins, so they are a decent priced tire. I didn't get to look at it today,
but I will tomoorow and try to post better pics. Thanks for your comments.

 

Here is a link with more pictures and info. I noticed that in one engine pic I see some oil. Does anyone recognize what could be the cause.

Hard to tell from the picture what the oil leak is. Maybe valve cover or oil cooler line... Tires are the cheaper Michelan Cross Country's not the XPC's. $8k sounds pretty good.
