What do you guys think of this diesel?

No offence Toad2 but I don't live in the UK now I live in France and although there are many D1's here not many D2's and you wouldn't want any truck after the French have had them. The second part being although I would be happy to help you find a decent truck IF I lived in the UK I am retired and don't work for anything now but I would do it for free as a favour to anyone. When I'm next over in Blighty I'll take a look around for a decent TD5 manual 7 seater but the earliest will be November this year. Don't encumber yourself with a V8 in the meantime as they are nothing but trouble as you can read on here. You need a V8 like you need a hole in the head.
Probably a pipe dream anyway.

I looked at this truck.
It has minimal frame corrosion, not as good as a Nevada truck, but close.
It is from Rome Italy. I think it was brought to Canada to re-sell so not much exposure to Canadian Winter.
Interior and exterior a little beat up. Normal wear for year I suppose.
Gear box seems to have lost the gates for each gear, but works okay.
Seller is not very technical. Oil was very low on dipstick, but engine seemed to run just fine.
Price to rich for my blood. Got a D2 from Nevada that was converted from v8 to TD5 instead.

How do you like the TD5? Fuel mileage? The guy selling the 300tdi will not ship TD5 kits as he says there is a lot of electronic hurdles. Does your guy do many and does he have more for sale?

I cannot offer much comment on the performance or fuel economy yet. I have only driven it twice and am now slowly perfecting the interior in my garage.
It feels powerful in normal driving because there is so much power low in the rev range compared to gasoline engines and the 5 speed does not have the losses associated with the auto. Power delivery is very smooth.
I really love the anti-stall feature in the control system. You can just slowly let out the clutch on a hill and the throttle will automatically increase to keep you going. I actually drove around a hilly neighborhood in second gear without touching the accelerator.
My guy has done around 5 or 6 disco conversions, but mine is the first TD5. The engine and transmission are from England.
I believe he is doing another one soon.
I will ask him if he has a contact he would share with forum users.

Yeah, I was chuckling a bit at that too. "Hmm, lets take our most winter capable vehicle and put it in the garage all winter and drive the Corvette!"
