What are essential parts to travel with onboard?
Assuming one has been on this forum for years and understands what it means to own and maintain a Disco, what do you guys think should be actually on board in the way of spare parts when more than a few hours away from home?
I carry a spare XYZ switch, MAF sensor, and a spare coolant hose tee with screw.

Hey I like this.
I built/installed a drawer system last winter with that list as basis for layout. Knock on wood- I haven’t needed nor carry those three essentials! Sounds like a good & I’ll revisit my parts truck as the list never seems to be at rest.
I have a drawer for cooking:
A little kit from front runner & GSI outdoors, few spices, little olive oil & cast iron pan.
drawer for recovery:
few straps, knetic rope, few Drings, rubber boots, gloves, old beach towel/rag, 5x5 tarp, ****** block. Winch controller, jumper cables, air hose.
Drawer for tools:
Portable Socket set, first aid kit, bug spray, code reader, little butane canister, 3/4” breaker bar with 1.116” socket, a waterproof submersible box with some electrical tools like tape, pliers, fuses, volt meter,
Little Swiss hand saw, smaller sharp hatchet/hammer, adjustable wrench & few open ended wrenches, screw driver +/-, tube high temp gasket maker, dialectic, container of JB epoxy weld, piece of 3/8 hose, a small air grinder tool. A brake flare tool, spare serp belt
Removed jump seats so driver side cubby is some essential fluids: brake, coolant, always last bit of Rotella 1g oil balance from previous oil change, ps fluid. Diff oil. Lighter fluid.
Right side cubby holds my onboard air.
- all of this is a slow accumulation of what I found I needed or had to acquire out there on the road/trail to get home or help one the guys on the trail to get out.
Alao happens to be my favorite past time, working and fabbing this truck.
