In the owners manual for my 1997 Discovery it says Premium Gas. What is everyone running? Should I run 89 or 93? or even 87?

premium, only premium... the engine is designed to to run high octane gas, doing anything else can result in hundreds of dollars worth of repairs to your exhaust system, sensors, and fuel system

 

Always, Always Always run Premium..

These engines were made to run only on Premium and if you don't, you will run into alot of trouble..

Carbon in your engine, rough run, decreased MPG and could eventually damage the engine and we don't want that now do we.. :]

Oddly enough my wife's A4 calls for 91 minimum and we can sometimes find that a bit cheaper than 93.

 

Well, yes 91 is much better than 87, but you can feel a slight difference in ride when you change from 91 to 93...

and honestly, the money diference is only a couple dollars total when using 93 octane rather than 91 :]

The higher the octane, the better the performance and MPG. The lower the octane the less mileage and the more carbon build up in the engine.

Synthetic!

Mobil 1 makes a really good Synthetic oil... that's what I use, along with the Mobil 1 oil filter... :]
