Brake light switch
If the brake light switch does not signal the BCU that the brake is applied, the shifter interlock solenoid under the shifter bezel does not operate to release the shifter from Park. You can remove the shifter bezel by pulling it straight up, and then manually retract the solenoid plunger to release the shifter.
The new style brake light switch is $11.95 at Auto Zone and is easy to change. The one I bought at Auto Zone in mid-2016 was in a Duralast box but was marked with the Land Rover logo, just like what you would get from a Land Rover dealer.
