Good stuff. Never, ever work under any vehicle supported by a jack only, hydraulic jacks can fail, always use axle stands and for 'belt and braces' site the jack loosely touching under the diff for added security. Also chock the wheels that are in contact with the floor as LR have plastic chocks in their wheel changing pack.

You never get two chances and only one life, take care of it and don't take risks and cut corners ................ those who did are rarely alive to tell the tale, sadly, not nice

PS welcome to the world of LR's and wrenching, enjoy

As the husband and father of an awesome wife and daughter I have to encourage you to never say this again.

^Its part of her stealth technology, while we are under estimating her as "just a girl" she is taking over the world!

sounds like I have picked the wrong wife!

At least she is very thrifty, and always get serious deal steals... Which in theory should allow me more money for the Landy, but it never works that way

Sooo......oil & filter changed, check.

Front brake pads changed, not checked.

I got the wheels & calipers off only to discover the pads that are on there are practically new! (the guy I bought her from gave me all receipts of the work he did, brake pads are not part of that, so I ASSUMED I would need to do them). The reason I was swapping them out is because a month ago or so I started hearing a slight squeal when I hit the brakes, then over the past month it got worse, and the past week it was really bad squealing and I heard a "rubbing" sound after I would let up on the brakes. Again, I ASSUMED it was time.

After re-installing the calipers and wheels, suddenly the horrific squeal & rubbing sounds are gone...what in the heck??

What could this be, or have been?
