Looking to sell my truck, and just trying to get a sense of what people are paying these days. I'm in SF.
2002 Land Rover Discovery
163,000 miles
Beige exterior with beige interior, black piping
Runs great. Starts up every time. Drives very smooth even at higher speeds.
Exterior is in pretty good shape, a few nicks and scratches here and there. Fading on roof only.
Surface rust underneath, but nothing bad (it's been checked by a shop).
Interior is very nice and clean. Leather in great shape. Very little droop in headliner. The cupholders in backseat are broken.
All windows work, including both moonroofs. No leaks or water damage.
All radio, CD player, AC, etc. work well.
Brand new all-year tires ($1,300)
Front and rear bumper have cracks/damage.
New Extinct inline thermostat, running ~180 degrees
New Lucky8 greasable drive shaft
Has some nice extras, like Front Runner load bars, heavy-duty OEM rubber cargo mat, ladder installed
That's not a lot to go on but with what you've told us so far I'd say a low end of $3,500 and a high of $5,500. So many factors go into making these trucks high dollar items. Two pics and some vitals don't even scratch the surface.
I got my '03 for $2500, almost no rust, faux leather front seats have rips, rear bench in perfect condition, fading also on roof only, front bumper a $600 steel contraption with a bull bar, basic model, no sunroofs, engine and cooling system serviced, good tires, truck has been looked after pretty well. Lots of new parts. I now see similar trucks being advertised for $5000-$7500 at times. It's a really complicated market. If I was going to sell mine, I probably wouldn't even consider anything bellow $3500 at all, and in fact I don't see much sense in selling it even for that much. Of course, if and when a head gasket fails, then it's a whole another ball game ))))
P.S. In the mean time, I saw a Youtube clip about a company that markets an electric vehicle kit specifically designed for a Defender 90. So, give it a couple of years, there will be such options for these soon-to-be-classic rigs as well, I believe.
As with most things its worth what someone is willing to pay and vehicles are in short supply these days so set your price and see what interest/offers you receive.
