Got it up and running and now another problem. The part in the picture is making a load repeating ticking sound and I have no idea what it is. What does it do and I do need to get a new one?

It is the purge valve, mine caused a check engine light and related code when it failed. If you buy the LR part is comes with hoses on both ends and is pricey. You can get just the purge valve (the black larger round piece) from Hyundia that is the same part. Hyundia part#28910-22040, less than $50 IIRC. You can also get it at your local auto parts store as the purge valve for the 2000 Hyundai Sonata V6. To replace just remove the clamps, and replace the purge valve only. As to whether you need to replace it, not sure if you have no check engine light, but sense it is making a loud noise, I would say yes. To remove those clamps, I used needle nose pliers and squeeze the little bump that is the connecting latch while twisting it to get to release. I am sure there is an official way to get it to release. I just squeezed the connector back together to get it to re-connect and hold the hose in place.

More D2 purge valve information here. http://forums.roversnorth.com/showth...Canister-Valve

I couldn't tell by the picture but there are two parts in that vicinity on SAI equipped trucks like yours. First, there's the purge valve as mentioned above, but there is also the SAI solenoid as well.

The solenoid is the same for all model years.

The purge valve hoses differ in '03 and '04.

If you want either of these cheap, I have good used ones in stock for all model years of DII's.

Scott, while you are under the hood, you might consider getting rid of those factory plug wires, replacing them with new 8 mm silicone wires which will perform much better.
