Default What say you about this G4??

Ive been here awhile ago looking and looking. So here I am again looking and looking and I stumbled across this. My question(s) are...

View Inventory

What came standard on the G4 edition?
I'm guessing the ARB type bumper and snorkel are aftermarket additions?

Was ACE an option on this model?

From what I've seen this is an appropriate price for this year and mileage.

Thanks for your cynical feedback

At 14k he isnt exactly giving away a truck that get 14 mpg.
You do get the 4.6L, CDL & vinyl interior.
but at 75k you get to rebuild/replace the drive shaft and start doing all the major service/replacement.
If you have to have G4 go for it, you dont see them ever day.
But living in Ma. I can tell you I have seen 04 with simular milage for under 10k.

I agree. I bought an 04 with similar mileage and had to do all the maintainance mentioned above plus some. So think about 14k, then at least 600 for the 60k service, and I had to replace my intake man gasket in the first month of owning it (that's kind of subjective to my car, but things to keep in mind). Possible head gasket and hose replacements also add up. BUT, G4s are f'ing awesome and I'd love to have one!

Good looking truck. Maybe use all this as a bargaining tool and try to get the price knocked down....or have them do all the servicing before you buy

It looks nice enough from what they're showing, but they're not showing nearly enough detail to justify the price.

Does it come with service records?

If you really want this truck, make sure you take it to a good, independent Rover mechanic. (Listen to all of the advice above too.)

One other thing...IIRC, there should be a SD rack with the G4. (I'm sure someone else can confirm this.) If so, then you should argue that the truck isn't complete and use that as a bargaining point on the price.

I thought there should have been a rack also.

Roof racks have always been an "option" for the Special Vehicles line, I found this out from the dealer, when doing some extra research on my truck. ARB and snorkel were not factory either, so that's a $1600-ish bonus in upgrades on top of the lift/tires.

To toss in my $0.02 on THIS truck : In my neck of the woods that is a steal. I've seen G4's listed in that price range with NONE of the add-ons that one has. But don't be distracted with how purdy it is....it's still a Land Rover Discovery

Ok thanks a lot, thats what I was looking for feedback wise.

Yes there are better deals out there and yes thats the "asking" price. Does this guy "think" or know he has something special and therefore is trying to squeeze every $1 he can out of it?

It is too bad there aren't more and better photos.

let it sit the price will drop, the only one interested in that truck is a LR fan.
Anyone else is just going to se it as a discovery with a screwy paint job and a bunch of decals.

FWIW, that truck IS something special. The G4's are pretty darn rare (according to Wikipedia 62 DII's were produced for the 2003 competition [2004 model DII's]).

If you are planning to buy a Discovery and do some modifications, this would be a good deal for you as the upgrade money has already been spent. Now he can't expect to get full retail for accessories, but if you calculate what YOU would be spending then it works out in your favor IMHO.

-Low Mileage (you might have to handle some of the major service in the near future, but you still get a lower mileage truck)
-ARB Bumper $1200
-Mantec Snorkel $400
-Lift $800
-Tires ~$1000 (can't tell if they are anything special)
-Coolness factor of a rare Tangiers Orange Disco ~$Pricelss
