Default What should I spray under the diff boot to un freeze it?

I want to take the boot off and get the DIFF LOCK to work by spraying penetrating oil, is that really I need? WD-40 or somthin?

It won't work. Depending on how frozen up the system is you usually have to remove the entire console to even get to the shifter assembly.

If you tried spraying past the boot, you would just get spray on the sheet metal floor of the tunnel.

I got mine from under the truck.
DO NOT use WD-40, it will make it rust.
Use Liquid Wrench or the like.
If you spray it with carb cleaner first it will help to eat the corrosion.

Getting under the truck and power scrubbing the linkage can sometimes free up th linkage but if it is a mix of dust moisture and lack of use, it may not free up then you go thru the floor.

Once you do get it working use it once a month, even just sitting in the driveway and moving the gear shifter through all four gears will do the trick.

Thanks for the info, is it more effective to take out the console or to go under the truck? Also, where under the truck exactly do I have to spray this? Any pics?

Well, do you really want to rip out the center console if you dont have to? Sounds like a lot of work to me.
Run the front of the truck up onto your ramps, have your helper wiggle the CDL shifter while you lay on your back with your drop light and look for the thing that is wiggling.
Spray the **** out of it and wiggle some more.
Spray some more, back it off the ramps and try to move the CDL shifter.
It will be stiff, but just keep trying to move it, it will go.
If that doesnt work then go the other route, but why not start simple?
