Mike:
My hi/low (which is really just a low) switch is not working right now so it doesn't detect when it's in low, so no hill decent etc.
Does the D1 use the same switch setup? Wasn't sure about that, but since it's just a connect to ground I figure it would be just as easy to add a manual switch.

jfall:
Yeah I get the impression that they got as far as putting the D1 transfer case in but not the shifter. If I'm right I'll do it when I get ambitious, I'd like the lock.
I do lack the extra hardware from connecting ends, I just have the shifter linkage. I'm hoping I can find these somewhere, otherwise I'll have to make/improvise them. It's the teardown of that whole central console I don't look forward to.

Of course I'm now thinking, have I ever really tried pulling the shifter into the locking position? I'm sure I would have noticed… She's off getting some fluids changed, I'm double checking that when I get her back. It would be funny if i'd just missed it…

And again, thanks!

The only indicator that is on your cluster is for when the CDL is engaged. Do you have any check engine light on or ABS/TC or HD lights on, if so that is why your HD won't engage. Let us know what you find.

Put it in low range and press the "mode" button on the base of the shifter. If an (S) symbol shows up on the instrument cluster, the computer thinks it is still in high range, if you see a (M) symbol light up the computer is detecting that it is in low range.

Good way to explain it.

Yes, what CCRovers says is what happens, that's why I think it's the switch. And no other lights, other than that she's healthy.

And sadly no matter how hard I push left no CDL. It was a nice dream while I had it.

My mechanic forgot to check out the Transfer Case for part numbers when he had it up so I'm back to crawling under and trying to id it. And if it ever stops snowing for more than a day, I might just do that.
If there's any other way to visually tell a D1 and a D2 transfer case appart, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks Again!
