Without a manual, owners manual or any indication on the vehicle, I need to know what type of brake fluid the 1994 Discovery I purchased needs. It is low. Normally I would think DOT-4 for British vehicles, but I have only owned older British vehicles. Please advise.

 

Should say on the master cylinder bottle, if not use some Castrol LMA.
You might also want to check and see which brakes are wearing out, that is what causes the fluid level to drop.

 

My 97 takes DOT 4.

 

Mike is right use Castrol LMA Dot 4 brake fluid in Disco I's.

 

Any Low Moisture Absorption DOT-4 brake fluid will do. When I flushed my brakes last year I used Valvoline synthetic DOT-4.
