Question Wheel nuts...

Hi. Where/what does the conical end of the nuts seats against ?

I don't think they seat against anything. Maybe there was a different wheel style offered that made use of that feature?

I think the tapered part might be to be able to use on a steel rim, maybe if you had a steel rim for a spare? But for the alloy rims it is not used, the wider flat ring is what clamps the wheel on.
