Default Wheel trim/arches

Is there a solution for sun baked and or worn looking wheel trim, aside from replacement?
A friend said sand down and use vinyl spray paint.
What has anyone else done for this?
Thanks.

I used Forever Black
Amazon.com: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit: Automotive
about 4 years ago, and they are just now starting to fade again. I am definitely going to sand them down before I treat them again as they seem to get rougher with age.

I'm about to try and plastic-dip mine. I'll let you know if it works.

You mean the black plastic trim on the fenders?

You could remove them.

Exactly. In my post there's a link to a pic of a truck with all that plastic removed. It looks great IMO.

Ok yours looks great, my truck is silver, unsure it'll look good... Plus they'll be noticeably missing. I'm gonna try that trim dye (1st reply) and take some before and after shots.

I took mine off carefully, sanded each down with 100 grit then with 300 grit.

Put some back textured 3m automotive spary, then 3 coats of black semi matt black paint.

Looks Great.

Highly unrecommended. What a pain in the ****!
