Fender Flare Removal... Again.
What isbehind the fender flares? .... does anyone have a photo or can describe the wheelarch behind them. Sounds funny but I haven't ever seen one removed as yet although two of mine were replaced by the main dealer when new because they ended up like sandpaper after a year. I'd be grateful for any info.

My demonic cat commanded me to remove them.
Many thanks Charlie_V, I think it looks excellent without the grotty plastic trims. Although mine were changed some 11 years ago they are as rough now as a badgers *** and would look far better if they disappeared. I hadn't appreciated the wing/fender was the same shape underneath and the plastic was a so called embellisher
. Many thanks again for taking the trouble.
PS. I like the moggy on the roof, he looks like he's got 'attitude'
we are also big into our cat over here, she's another moggy with 'attitude'

I can't guarantee results in this case since I've not removed the flares on my truck, but a product called CitraSolv has removed adhesives for me that Goo Gone and other products have not. It can be a little hard to find and it's a little more expensive, but IIRC the CitraSolv web site has a Where to Buy feature.
Ah, but I always need info from others! The acquisition of knowledge is the epitome of human existence and I appreciate all that I receive. Bummer about your paint. I'll get one soon(ish) and I'll be sure to keep it moving. Thanks Charlie!
Job for all the immigrants who do car cleaning in the supermarket car parks when I go back to the UK, it'll save me a couple of hours work.
What a world. Immigrants fix your rover in the parking lot at the supermarket?!

Tomorrow, weather permitting (electric storms and high winds are forecast for tonight and tomorrow) I'll dig out the electric heat gun (usually used for paint stripping) and carefully remove my rough finished daggy old fender flares and see what they reveal, hopefully the paint underneath them is OK bar the goo glue.
Found this thread on the fender flares, hmmm, it happens to most people who own D2's.
