Where's that blasted relay
The Cruise Control on my 97 300TDi has been playing up for a while now. I've been through all the obvious stuff - the vacuum pipes (fine), the pump (fine), the brake switch (fine) and so on. The odd behaviour is that every now and then it'll work perfectly (hence good reason to believe the mechanical bits are OK) AND if I turn off the master switch before stopping the engine, it'll work again the next time I drive 90% of the time.
Given this, a learned colleague and I have decided that it's worth checking the relay that operates the pump - it seems entirely possible that this is unreliable but works when it does, if you see what I mean. However, we can't find the bloody thing. The crappy Haynes manual I have says it's behind the passenger footwell but I can't see it there - or at least none of the wire colours seem to match up.
Can anyone say for definite where the Cruise Control relay is located?
Jon
