Which White Shepherd product should I used in my 03 D2 Transfer case?
I've had a bit of seapage from my Transfer case. I want to drain and refill and try the White Shepherd product. Which Product do I use (They have several).
Also, thinking that a NON Synthetic might be less likely to seep, but, it seems everyone recommends the synthetic. I had numerous engine oil leaks in a prior D2, and I noted on a receipt, that the oil had just been changed to full synthetic just prior to my buying it. I drained out the synthetic, refilled with organic motor oil and EVERY leak stopped!
On the reverse side of that,....On a BMW Shaft drive, when I drained the regular gear lube out and changed to synthetic the day before a long ride of about 1000 miles,......I had a bad leak the next day at the final drive seal, leaking gear lube onto the rear brake rotor and tire,......not a good thing on a motorcycle. In this case, changing back to NON synthetic gear lube, did NOT fix the leak. I rode it for 3 days with it constantly seeping,....and had to replace the seal. BTW,......I have had over 40 Shaft drive BMW motorcycles,....have never had another bike leak at the final drive seal.

Instead of 80/90w GL5 why don't you switch over to 85/140w and see if the leak stops.
Is it leaking from the flat inspection plate on the TC? While it's empty you can remove that cover, and reseal it with RTV.

I did both those things about a year ago. Bought the proper Gear oil resistant RTV, cleaned everything up, re-sealed the flat plate, put it back together, then filled it with 85/140 synthetic. seemed ok for a few days,......then started dripping again. It eventually stopped dripping. I think because the lube level got below the leak point. When I took it apart last time,....not very much lube came out,....so I figured most of it had leaked out. I think that where I am again.
I don't see it now that Blue Devil has bought them out, I thought i used a product for transfer cases that i used on my D2 years ago.
Lacking that i would go for the rear main seal product as it is made to swell seals.
