I think at this point I will just get bolts. I don't want to wreck another block.

Just to note stud kits vary a lot the Rover V8 kit is shorter some cheaper ones are too long. Lots of brit use them on older small castings, that said they worked fine on my 4.6.

​​​​@Extinct has a good point if a bolt or stud "feels different" that can be an issue.

And chase and clean the threads, I used, degreaser, followed by hot water and a heavy concentration of dish wash soap, hot water, then cheap isopropyl alcohol. I found a pipe cleaning brush that fit in the bolt holes nicely.

Well i got the studs from Lucky8 with their head gasket kit so I don't know the part number. How long are the studs supposed to be?

@zacharyz28 You should be fine double check the torque specs they are a lot lower than they were originally were around only 70lbs now I think - APR has the update on their website.
Go easy on the lube too

I admire your confidence but I am still rather gun shy. I had it at 80 last time when they pulled out which is was some sites listed as the final value. My fault for not reading the actual supplied directions. But 10 lb/ft between spec and pulled threads combined with horror stores of them pulling at 50 doesn't instill me with confidence.

@zacharyz28 Yea that is the problem with old stuff lot of people have worked on it. All I know is mine went in clean.
