Default HELP Who has a transfer case out of the truck?

Trying to figure out if I'm missing a bolt. There is a threaded hole on my box that I can't tell if something should be in or not. If anyone has one out or doesn't mind crawling under their truck please let me know

Yeah, I got two, can you zoom out of the photo a bit so I can locate the general area better?

There is a funky plug in that area you are talking about, but it could be being blown around while you drive from multiple spots on the LT230.

”If” someone wasn’t careful lining up the TC/Transmission when sliding it into position the seal could have got torn (seen it happen a lot).

I'd add a little UV detector and go for a quick drive just barely up to temp and then park it and look for the fresh UV oil with a UV light. I bet you'll find where it's really coming from and not have to do much detective work. Just an idea.

If the input seal got torn during the install (or if it was not replaced and was worn to the other LR's input shaft vs the other D2's input shaft) it would seep right down past that plug as it's sunk down a bit vs the rest of the TC casing.

The good thing is it doesn't look like a super major leak. If that was the case you'd have applied a nice undercoating to your D2 of 80/90w or 85/140w.

That "funky plug" that is leaking is your intermediate pin. Yours appears to be standing proud of the case when it shoudl be sub-flush, the sealing o-ring may have moved out of the case. I bought a truck once with a bad transfer case, the nut on the intermediate pin backed off, the pin backed out, the gears ate themselves. I would recommend checking the nut on the other side. The pin is not hollow, there is not plug missing from the center of the pin, that is just the lathe turning center indention.

These images may help

Nut on parking brake side.
