Default Who knew Rovers could fly?

This afternoon about 3 houses away from my house I was travelling down a 45mph road and someone decided to not stop at a stop sign on a cross street and clipped my front passenger corner. I bounced off into the ditch, jumped the rover with the wheels off the ground for about 20 feet (according to the tracks in the snow), then stopped about 60 yards later in my neighbour’s backyard I think my suspension took a pretty good hit along with the front corner. I was able to drive it (slowly) out of the yard and back to my driveway after bending the bumper metal away from the wheel with a crowbar.

I'm hoping that it just needs a good alignment and that the frame isn't bent.

The camber is off on both sides. I don't know if you can tell from the picture.

Looks like a nice insurance check to me.

Take the money and get another one.

Way cheaper in the long run.

Yea, I'm with the others. Get a blown up '04 with the insurance money and buy yours back as salvage, swap the engine, keep the extra wheels, and sell a bunch of parts and the rest for scrap.

Yeah, it's a real bummer. So you guys are thinking it's probably not fixable?

I'd love to get another one, but decent rovers are not easy to find around here.

I'm debating whether I should have a shop look at or not for possible frame damage, bent axle housing, etc. Is it worth the effort or not? Is there anything specific I should have them look at? Am I nuts even considering trying to make it drivable again?

Of course the insurance company came back with it as a total loss and the money they are offering is not enough to replace it with.

That sucks about the insurance company, man. It's not that it's not fixable, it's just not financially feasible to fix it. You could buy two for what it would cost to fix her. Can you not fond one around with a blown engine for what they're offering? If your engine is good, then that's your best option. Then just start parting yours out and you should be able to come out ahead.

Don't give up. You can fight the ins company. It's worth what it's worth, but you do some polite bitching and you might get a raise. Tell them to find one that's in the same condition as yours was for that price.

ask your insurance company what they used for comps? that really throws them. That would the the three cars that the adjuster used to make your comparison on the value of your vehicle.
then look at the comps. find your own, then find three at used car dealer and have a number in mind when talk with the insurance company, do say i think its worth??? tell them you have been out and it is going to cost me XXX to replace my truck.
Check your policy but i "think" you will see you do not pay insurance for book value, you pay for average replacement cost, big difference.
