Why the Discovery 2 "Inline Thermostat" mod is a BAD idea
I am running the stock (I assume) 194 degree thermostat in my 2000 D2. I am also running a ScanGuage 3 in it. When I start it, it warms up VERY quickly which is nice! After the thermostat opens it sometimes bobbles around a little until it settles down and then runs at a VERY STEADY 194 degrees. Sitting still idling or driving doesn't matter, it doesn't change more than maybe a degree for a few seconds. I'm quite impressed by how steady it holds the temp. I should say that it is around -25C to -30C
here lately so I'm happy with the way it warms up and keeps the cab (and me) nice and warm! We'll see how it does in the summer but if I decide to change thermostats I like the Jag thermostat idea better than the inline because I think it would keep the engine at a more even temp, especially during warmup. Maybe it wouldn't matter much at a low opening temp of 180 degrees but I wonder what putting a 195 degree in for the winter would do. I know that most of you don't have to deal with our kind of temps but I can't see running a 180 degree in the winter out here! Either the Jag or the inline are a huge improvement in location from the stock position making if possible to change thermostats easily without a lot of coolant loss. So if I change it sure won't be to another "down under" one ( sorry Ozys lol )

Have you got a link please? I'm in the UK and can't find one anywhere.
Thanks she is a very interesting spec'd out D2. 2000 no sunroofs, ACE, winter package so heated seats and windshield, and it had SLS. I have hardly seen that red D2's in person and this one is extremely well taken care of! Previous owner has receipts for 25K worth of work in 2023. Sadly it was taken to quick lube places for it's last few oil changes. Something is going on with #3 (engine is an AB 7700.00 unit installed in 2023). So I'm going to tear it down and see what in the world is going on. It runs, but has misfires on #3.

yeah that's why I grabbed it ASAP!! The interior looks just as good as the exterior.
