Why not use Synthetic in Disco 2?

It is also nice Rotella has a readily available 10w30 that I can use in just about anything I drive.

I guess I should have said I run RP. Synthetics have a higher film strength and will hold up better. You can run a lighter weight in synthetic than you would in conventional.

Default Why not use Synthetic in Disco 2?

This is a good thread about oil.
My concern is that I have not read here an acknowledgement about service conditions.
A summer's trip across the US pulling a boat at highway speeds is different than a normal urban commute of say 5 miles.
Another condition is low rpm high torque wheeling for hours in a rock pile on a summer's day.

What type of oil is best for each of these service conditions?
