As or 1.5 hours ago I have joined the 3 amigos club - where all the cool people are at
I'm not gonna start freaking out and wasting $$$$ on misc parts to try and fix them, but as it is my brakes have **** the bed. All pads and both front calipers need to be replaced asap. Have been driving to and from work "carefully" and I'm saving the $$$ to get the remaining brake parts I need for the job (ie: just the front calipers and brake master cylinder and a metric socket kit).

So my question is: can bad calipers, pads and or bad brake MC trigger the 3 amigos? They came on while I was parked at a gas station. And what signs should I look for (regarding the amigos) while I'm doing the work on the brakes? Obviously I will inspect all the ABS cables and the like but that's all I know to look for at the moment.

Brake work will not begin for another 2.5 weeks so I'll start researchint the amigos anyways but I just need some quick references.

 

The heat from your sticking caliper could have caused you issues. Brake dust.....

 

Yes bad brakes can trigger the boys to appear.

 

The brakes triggered mine, both the front calipers were frozen, with worn down pads. I got frustrated after a 1 hour brake job turned into a full day of work and broken down disco. I carefully...and I use that term loosely, drove to a dealer who then charged me $1,300 for new brakes, calipers, rotors and lines, and told me the back needed the same...for $1,200 more. When I said no he then deemed my disco as an un safe fix, in which I had to sign a release stating that they were not responsible....sorry just ranting.

Yes brakes will cause them amigos to show up at the Alamo
