MyDI is a very effective multi-use tool. Simple to repair, only three reasons it wont run and it will go anywhere.

Actually Spike, my drive shaft never failed. The pictures I link to on PicassaWeb were from a guy on DWeb, who had the thread "My driveshaft just b1tch slapped my tranny!!". Thanks to this site I purchased a rebuilt d/s before it failed. BTW, the truck Disco2Fever is looking at looks like a pretty sweet ride. I can see why he didn't want to post the link to it just yet, I wouldn't either.

D2F, I just sent you a reply pm. I would have no problems driving a couple hundred miles to take a look at that D2 if I was you.

I remember that post. Because you had the pics I assumed it was yours. ANd yes I know what happens when you assume.
I didnt think it was yours, it didnt add up, but you had the pics, ya know?
I think that you need to post them here under a new thread so that anybody looking to buy can see what happens if you dont correct the problem.

It looks like they have to lined out on the Disco so now,,,,
Its pistol talk time with a change coming in Nov most people want
to pickup new toys before any new laws change things.
I just picked up a Kimber Pro TLE II (LG) I just needed a reason.
It shoots better than my Springfield Champion and thats not easy.

Back on subject I hope you find a good Disco if you can see if its has records
that will tell that the last owner was trying to keep it up to date on service.

That's as good idea about the broken tranny Spike. I've thought of writing (and saving) a post with all of the common info that can just be copied and pasted. Really what we need is a sticky, but I have no idea who to talk to on this board about that.

Hi Pat,

As all have been saying some initial maintainance on a DII is a definate!

It pains me to say this, but...
Considering selling my 2000 DII.
It has very low miles with a new motor!
Iam the second owner and have ALL service records since new.
Selling only because gonna be getting an LR3.
I will sell it for a sweet deal!!!
If you are interester, let me know, If not good luck I hope you find what you are looking for.

Regards,

Nick

Disco2Guy- as SOON as I hit 'send' on my PM to you, I received word that the Disco was SOLD!

So, I might as well let everyone enjoy the pictures of this wonderful vehicle: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...reset_crumbs=y

Nick, where in the country are you located? I'm in Michigan, but I will be heading to Boston next weekend for a conference, if you're anywhere near there.

Everyone- Thank you all SO much for the wealth of info located in this thread... you've already been a HUGE help in my search.

I am going to keep hunting and checking in here with updates and AT.com links to the Discos that I'm considering.

Pilsner, I'd be very interested in researching the correlation between those who own Discos and guns. Especially those who carry them. To answer your 'pocket' question, right now, I have a Glock 26, 9mm. Soon, I'll be trading it for a Glock 19 (9mm) though, for the larger capacity magazine and sight radius.

Thanks again everyone... I really, really appreciate it. I LOVE how there's a forum for everything, and I can't believe that for a free forum, this place is so polite and friendly. It looks as if the "Land Rover Bunch" are a hearty and wholesome one!

Over&Out,

Pat

D2F - Just checked out your website. Very impressive. I have not yet got my concealed carry permit but it's something that is going to happen as soon as I have time. I carry either a Glock 20 (10mm) or a S&W M&P40. I like the power of the 10mm but I worry about it going straight through my target and hurting someone I don't intend to so I carry the 40 as my concealed. The 10mm sees lots of carry time in the woods.

Congratulations on your LR. I'm sure you'll become an addict like the rest of us here. I have to agree with Spike that the Disco is a great multi-tool.

I just received an email back from the owner of that Disco, after I requested some info about the lift kit... here's what he said:

My disco was super nice and it even had the weight system lowered to keep the truck in balance. It actually drove perfectly without any body roll. Is was even geared so that it would run properly and keep the same pickup and mileage. The bad news is that most of the lift work was custom and would not be worth doing over again from a dollar stand point. Nobody actually made a kit to accomplish the lift my Disco had. Best of luck in your search, Ryan
